img About Us

Nestled in the lush, mountainous region of Santiago de Puringla, La Paz, Honduras — a town known for its abundance of tradition, natural beauty, and deep-rooted coffee culture — Mancile Café was born from a legacy of dedication and passion. Santiago de Puringla, once called Alguindia, gained its name in 1861 and became a municipality in 1886. It’s a land steeped in history, where the Lenca heritage, tales of Guamcasco (the exchange of saints and stories), and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee still linger in the air. Our journey began in the 1930s, when Doña María de los Ángeles started cultivating coffee in the community of Mancile. She processed the beans in stone troughs and roasted them on clay griddles for family use — a humble beginning, yet rich in tradition.

In the 1950s, her son Don Oracio Argueta carried forward the family passion. With innovation and devotion, he expanded coffee production to the Rauteca community, using water-powered pulping machines and sun-drying methods. His coffee was stored in handcrafted wooden boxes and transported to buyers like Germas Goster, a German coffee trader in Intibucá. Today, Mancile Café honors this four-generation legacy with a commitment to quality, sustainability, and innovation. We cultivate high-altitude Arabica beans under strict standards, producing specialty coffees with rich profiles — notes of chocolate, red fruits, panela, citrus, and red wine — all while supporting our local communities and preserving our environment. More than a coffee company, we are a story of resilience, family, and cultural pride — bringing the heart of Honduras to every cup.
